Burnout

Updated: Jun 19

This is the first year I haven't felt utterly burnt out on woodworking after the holiday season. In years past, Christmas marked the beginning of a long break from my workshop, usually lasting a couple of months (sometimes more). The overwhelming nature of the holidays wears me out, removing any joy woodworking brought me.

I made a point in 2023 to slow down and recenter myself. Doing fewer markets and putting more time into my craft were a priority for me. This has helped me branch out to new events and take on my first art exhibition.

Instead of pushing through the holidays like I have in the past, I was able to enjoy myself and was excited for the new challenges to come.

In 2024 I want to continue this progress through an emphasis on honing my craft, pushing myself to try new things, and sharing my passion more. I hope to savor each moment and never stop growing.
